Emergencies can strike at any time — a flood that destroys a family's crops and food supply, a disease outbreak that threatens children's health, displacement due to conflict, or a drought that leaves communities without water or food. In each of these situations, children are among the most vulnerable — their nutritional status deteriorates quickly, their development can be permanently harmed, and they face heightened risks of illness and violence.
Our Emergency Response
Mtoto Stawi is committed to responding rapidly when children are at risk. Our emergency response draws on our deep community relationships and program infrastructure to reach families quickly with:
- Emergency nutrition support, including therapeutic feeding for severely malnourished children
- Access to health services and medical care
- Child protection support for children at risk of violence, exploitation, or neglect
- Psychosocial support for children and caregivers affected by trauma
- Coordination with government and other responders to ensure a coherent response
