Why Advocacy?

Mtoto Stawi is committed to ensuring that evidence and community experiences inform policies and programs that affect children's lives. Through research and engagement with stakeholders, we advocate for policies, systems, and investments that address the root causes of poor child growth, nutrition, and development.

By working with government institutions, partners, and decision-makers, we promote equitable policies and increased attention to the contextual factors that influence children's well-being. Our advocacy aims to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up healthy, safe, and supported.

Our Advocacy Work

  • Research and Evidence Generation: We conduct and support rigorous research on child nutrition, growth, and development to generate the evidence needed to advocate for change.
  • Policy Engagement: We engage directly with government ministries, parliamentary committees, and international organizations to advocate for child-friendly policies.
  • Stakeholder Partnerships: We work with a broad coalition of civil society organizations, academic institutions, and development partners to amplify our advocacy voice.
  • Community Voices: We ensure that the voices of children, families, and communities are heard in policy discussions at all levels.
  • Media and Public Awareness: We use media and communications to raise public awareness about the challenges facing children in Tanzania and the solutions that work.

Key Advocacy Areas

Our advocacy focuses on the systemic changes needed to improve child wellbeing at scale. This includes advocating for increased investment in early childhood nutrition, strengthened health systems, gender-equitable social protection, and climate-resilient food systems that protect children's nutrition in the face of environmental change.
